Rawhide Ranch operates a Summer Camp for nine weeks plus two weeks of staff training. The Rawhide Ranch summer schedule typically consists of beginning staff training during the first week of June and completing the summer season in the third week of August. Rawhide Ranch expects summer staff be available for the entire season.  All Summer Camp Staff serve in a dual role as cabin counselor and activity specialist.

Qualifications

  • Post high school education (2 years suggested)
  • Desire to work with children, adults, and animals in educational setting
  • Ability to accept guidance and supervision
  • Commitment to work long hours
  • Good character, integrity and accountability
  • 19 years of age or older
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 75 lbs
  • Ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid
  • Problem solving skills
  • Ability to identify and respond to potential and actual hazards
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification from a recognized provider

Duties

  • Develop relationships with the children in assigned cabins
  • Lead or assist in teaching various classes at Rawhide Ranch
  • Participate in animal care and ranch maintenance
  • Assist & participate in evening programs
  • Supervise “free time areas”
  • Guide cabin and individual campers in participating successfully in all aspects of the camp program
  • Carry out established roles for supervising camper health
  • Supervise daily cabin cleanups for inspection
  • Lead cabin or group in appropriate skits or songs when the program calls for it
  • Responsible for the well being of the children in their cabin and assigned activities
  • Flexible in all aspects of the program with a willingness to help out when a need arises
  • Willingness to help children through difficult challenges such as homesickness
  • A true desire to work hard and play hard in all aspects of the job while maintaining a level of responsibility and accountability
